We are so fortunate to host wonderful families – open-minded, collaborative, flexible people who are are excited to explore Latin America with Deliberate Detour. Their feedback matters to us. We truly loved the heart and intention behind this Deliberate Detour experience—bringing together like-minded families for immersive worldschooling in Peru. Traveling with families we already knew made the trip even more special and created a strong sense of community.

We never would’ve thought of taking a trip like this as a family. But Deliberate Detour created a safe, structured, and creative environment that kept our kids engaged and learning while us adults were able to work during the days and explore Oaxaca on our own terms. Two weeks was the perfect time to find our favorite places and start to become familiar with certain aspects of the neighborhood. It was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken and we can’t wait to come back.

The communication from Stephanie was incredible, which started off the program on a great foot. It only got better from there because Linda and Maria were incredible teachers. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and you could tell they really care for both the kids and the work they are doing. We really liked the space of Casa Bestia and what it had to offer. And Cristian was a great help throughout the process as well. Our family enjoyed all of the topics the kids learned about, as well as the experiential aspect of having them do hands-on learning for all of it.

Deliberate Detour was everything we hoped for and more! It was our first worldschooling hub, and it will be hard for any future hubs to match the superb level and variety of activities, fabulous communication and caring teachers for the kiddos while facilitating interesting activities for the parents to enjoy as well. My daughter (12) loved flying kites and playing with her new friends around Inca ruins and painting Toritos de Puscara at the hub. The Friday Field trips were icing on the cake, where we learned fascinating history in a fun way and filled our bellies with delicious Andean delicacies. Two weeks went by in a flash- and we savored every minute!
