Stephanie Tolk

Founder

Stephanie started Deliberate Detour after two years of travel with her family through 16 countries. Not only has she spent nearly five years of her life abroad as an exchange student, Peace Corps Volunteer, backpacker, and worldschooler, but Stephanie has a professional background as a nonprofit founder and executive director.

Jamie Liverseidge

Associate Director

Jamie began her career as a school teacher for the non-profit Teach for America before homeschooling her two boys. She and her family have been traveling full-time since 2019, visiting 23 countries together. She’s unable to name a favorite because, as she says, “I love my countries like I love my kids; each is special in its own way.”

Stacy Jacques

Bookkeeper

Stacy is Canadian and has been living abroad for the last nine years. Currently based in China, Stacy has traveled to 13 countries over three continents with her family. She has 15 years of experience in accounting, working in both firms and private corporations.

Guatemala

Jennifer Brewer

Hub Developer

Jen has been living in Antigua, Guatemala for over 6 years. She and her husband and daughter traveled to many Latin American countries before settling in Antigua. Her career in Human Resources spanned 20 years in various industries, throughout several states in the U.S. A devoted mom, Jen enjoys the perfect climate, beautiful culture, and gracious people of Guatemala,  every day.

Peru

Melisa Abadie

Hub Developer

Melisa is from Argentina, but she has lived in Cusco, Peru for almost 8 years. Through her career in hotel management, she has had the opportunity to interact with many different cultures in various locations. Melisa is currently the general manager of Mundo Antiguo Spanish School in Cusco. Even though she has visited more than 25 countries, her favorite place is Argentina.

Carina Dometri Berrío Anaya

Hub Developer

Carina is an elementary school teacher, with a master’s degree in bilingual intercultural education. She has worked as a Spanish teacher since 2008 and now directs the Mundo Antiguo Spanish school in Cusco, integrating Spanish teaching with cultural immersion. Carina loves Peru for the immense diversity of cultures and landscapes that make those who visit it fall in love.

Mexico

Linda Kenyon

Hub Developer

Linda completed her graduate studies in Sociology and Linguistics in Australia over 7 years ago and began traveling in Latin America soon after. For more than 6 years, she has lived in Oaxaca, Mexico, which holds a special place in her heart. A certified instructor of English as a second language, Linda has worked as a teacher and curriculum developer for children and adults of all ages within schools, non-profits, and private institutions within Mexico and internationally.
